Ekiti Parapo College which was established in 1954 became the first Community Grammar School in Ekiti Division, in the then Western Region of Nigeria. This was made possible through the efforts of the Lagos based Ekiti National Association and its home counterpart Ekiti Progressive Union. Though the idea to build the School to supplement the only Secondary School in the whole of the then Division...Christ's School, Ado Ekiti was muted as far back as 1940. It was not until the 29th of January, 1954 that the dream came into reality. On that Friday, 25 pioneering male students admitted through a competitive entrance examination, began their five year West African School Certificate course at the temporary quarters of the Rest House Ido Ekiti. The founding Principal Mr. (now Chief) Adepoju Akomolafe, who was appointed on the 25th of August 1953 started the herculean pioneering work with two other teachers. Mr. (now Chief) G. K. Dada and Mr. O. O. Ajayi. Mr. (now Alhaji) Olajide Shittu was the Administrative aide.

The then Western Region Minister of Education Honourable S. 0. Awokoya performed the formal opening ceremony of the College  In December, 1958 the School presented its first set of twenty-three Students for the West African School Certificate Examinations having being approved for WASCE the previous November. Only one candidate failed the examination, while two passed out in Grade I, fourteen in Division II and six made their papers in Grade III.

The name of our school is a reflection of the solidarity and our collective efforts that led to the resounding defeat of the Ibadans during the infamous Kiriji War. It shows how success can be achieved if we work together and support each other.

The moto....Agbajopo owo la fi nsoya clearly attests to that. In reality, the financial contribution of numerous families in Ekiti was the backbone to establishing the great institution. Our alumni members all over the world are continuing with this mindset by reaching out to one another in order ensure that our school is financially supported and brought back to her old glory.

A significant and giant stride was made in the history of the College in 1963. On the sixth of May, sixteen girls were admitted into residence. With this, the School became a co-educational Institution, thereby fulfilling one of the aims of the founders. In 1968, the first set of Higher School Certificate (HSC) students was admitted.

The School entered its second phase in May, 1968, when the baton of leadership changed hands. The Principal Chief Ade Akomolafe proceeded on leave of absence to enable him assume office as the Chairman of the newly created Western Region Statutory Corporations Service Board. His former Vice-Principal Mr. A. S Asebiomo succeeded him on the first of May, 1968. Since then, the School has come under the leadership of many Principals until 1981 when an old Student Mr. Lawrence Akinyede became the first old student to head the School.

Like the other side of every thing, tragedy struck on the 25th of October, 1977. On that fateful Tuesday, the School Van conveying Students to a football match at Aramoko was involved in an accident near the campus.
Four Students lost their lives, while several others were injured, many of them seriously including the NYSC Gamesmaster.
In 1979. the School struck a significant note in its development efforts, when it went comprehensive with the introduction of Wood Work. Technical Drawing, Metal Work and Commercial subjects in its curriculum
This was made possible under the I.D.A. credit for Education project. A Technical Building and various heavy equipment were provided to the School under the program. Since then the College has been having its ups and downs like any human enterprises.
